Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Culture National Historic Park, New Mexico, United States

Pueblo Bonito is a large residential complex that was built by a community of Ancestral Puebloans, who were the ancestors of the modern indigenous Pueblo peoples of the United States. It was built sometime around 850 and inhabited for around 300 years until a fifty-year drought caused people in the area to migrate and fully abandon the pueblo by around 1150. The structure had over 600 rooms and some parts were up to four storeys high. It is one of hundreds of pueblos that lie in ruins throughout the southwestern United States.
