Carved sardonyx cameo depicting a scene with maenad restraining Pan from butting heads with a goat, which is being held by a satyr. Attributed to Sostratos or the workshop thereof, circa 25 – 1 BCE. The studio of Sostratos was known for creating carved gems with Dionysian imagery. This particular cameo (2.3 × 1.6 × 0.4 cm/7/8 × 5/8 × 3/16 in) was set in a gold ring.
