The “Beatle” that wasn’t to be. Stuart Suttcliffe was John Lennon’s best friend and the original bassist for the Beatles. Suttcliffe left the band to pursue a career as a painter and died at the age of 21 of a brain aneurysm. Today marks the date of his birth in 1940.
